I spent 10+ years visiting my husband at Halstad Living Center every day. I would load the dogs up in the car and would drive up when my teaching day was done. We would watch the news and Wheel of Fortune, have some peanut M&Ms and a cup of coffee and then, after about two hours, I would head home. It wasn't the same not having him in the house with me but since I couldn't take care of him alone anymore, this was the next best thing. He had his chair and his TV from home - it was like sitting in the living room together. The wonderful staff were always attentive to our needs and took extra time to figure out what he needed when he had trouble communicating. I don't know what we would have done without the care and attention of the folks at HLC.
